Sunscreen To Prevent Aging - July 29th, 2009

There are various different sunscreens, and frankly outside the SPF, I always figured they were all the same.  We used only at least 45 SPF as kids, because my mother went a little bit overboard in certain ways, and then we weren’t allowed to swim for at least 30 minutes when at that time we understood that it lasted 45 minutes, but it had to soak in.  We weren’t allowed to go swimming on too hot of days, you get the idea.  But apparently, though she went a bit overboard, it wasn’t all horrible ideas.

If you protect your skin, it prevents skin cancer.  But the problem is that sometimes sunscreens stink, they clog pores, they don’t do enough, and frankly people have a variety of different skin types.  So for example, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 100+ is pretty heavy duty for obvious reasons.  But it soaks into oily skin especially without leaving residue.  On the other hand, DERMAdoctor Aint Misbehavin’ is pretty clarifying and helps you to avoid acne and also get rid of some minor problems.  for sensitive skin, Aveeno Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 actually has oatmeal.  All of these give different results for different skin types.  So it’s a matter of choosing properly.
